Get to Know InLoox: Konrad – Software Engineer at InLoox Headquarters in Munich
Annalena Simonis, Tuesday 15 June 2021 | Reading time: 5 min.Konrad has been working as Principal Architect for InLoox at our headquarters in Munich since 2019. As a Scrum Master, he is responsible for the organization of the backlog. When he is not working on the development of our project management software InLoox, he is an absolute family man and is passionate about space travel, philosophy or experiencing adventures in nature with his family.
1. What motivated you to apply for a job at InLoox?
My history with InLoox is a very special one. InLoox, formerly known as IQ medialab, was my first real employer. Andreas and Tiziano recruited me in 2000, shortly after my high school graduation, and we realized some breakneck IT projects together. After three years, my youthful curiosity led me to look around in other fields and we parted on friendly terms. Then 17 years later, Tiziano became aware via LinkedIn that I was looking for a new challenge and simply reached out to me. After all my experiences in the IT world, the work environment and the tasks at InLoox sounded exactly like what I was looking for.
2. What do you like most about the project management software InLoox?
The ability to copy entire projects is just awesome. I use this feature to copy old projects as templates for recurring management tasks such as onboarding. This is a tremendous time saver.
3. Which project would you like to see accelerated?
I can't wait to see the first orbital flight of the SpaceX spacecraft, that will change space travel forever. If I could see the completion and commissioning of ITER in my lifetime, that would be spectacular as well.
4. What profession did you want to pursue as a child?
When I was 10 years old, my father took me to the Deutsches Museum in Munich for a special exhibition on the Prix Ars Electronica. At that time, 3D computer animation was still a real art form, practiced mainly by scientists. I stood open-mouthed in front of the video exhibits and knew I had to do that too. In the 17 years between IQ medialab and InLoox, I really did it professionally, but in the end, software development was more to my liking.
5. Who or what would you like to be for a day?
I would love to swap a day with my little son, he has the best life.
6. What is your life motto?
That would be quite a list, mainly from Stoicism and the Tao Te King.
7. Where would you like to live if you had the choice?
Munich is and remains unbeatable for me. How lucky I am that I'm already here!
8. What is your favorite personal project?
I started flying FPV freestyle during the Corona winter. I’m now completely immersed in this hobby and am slowly becoming quite a passable pilot.
9. What do you like to do most when you are not developing the InLoox software?
Cooking, mountain hiking, paddle boarding – with my family, of course. That's time well spent.

10. What's your work from home life hack?
I work on a 42-inch 4K monitor and screwed height-adjustable legs to my desk. My home office workspace feels luxurious now.
11. Three things you love about working from home.
My home-cooked lunch, my awesome workspace, and that I get to spend more time with my wife.
12. What do you miss most about office life?
Having fun with my colleagues. We see each other a lot in Microsoft Teams, but being in the same room together is something else.
