InLoox + Power BI

Power BI is Microsoft's cloud-based reporting service for business intelligence and it's integrated with Office 365. Power BI enables users to visualize, consolidate and analyze large amounts of data ("big data") to create meaningful charts, reports and dashboards. 

You can link InLoox with Power BI via the open API, so you can edit and visualize your InLoox data directly in the Power BI. You can easily create individual reports and dashboards for your InLoox projects, which enable you to identify trends in advance and make better decisions.

The whitepaper explains how you can link InLoox with Power BI and how you can visualize your project data in meaningful reports. The reports mentioned in the whitepaper can also be downloaded as templates.

How to import the InLoox Power BI template

Step 1: Authentication

Create an access token:

  • Open the following link: https://app.inlooxnow.com/tests/oauth2 
  • Click on Authorize → If you're already signed in to InLoox now!, the access token will appear immediately. If not, please sign in when prompted.
  • Copy the access token with STRG-A and STRG+C

Step 2: Download template

Download the InLoox Power BI template and unzip the file (.zip). The template includes 3 reports: 

  • Project status
  • Effort (actual versus planned)
  • Open tasks

Step 3: Import template

  • Open the Power BI Desktop App or download the app here. 
  • Import the template: File > Import > Power BI template > Select the InLoox Power BI template file (.pbit) > Confirm with OK

Step 4: Enter access token

Enter the access token, which was generated in step 1, when prompted and confirm with Load. 

Now you can either edit the template or publish it to your Power BI workspace in the Power BI web app or share it with others.
